Empower Hockey is an on-ice program developed to help hockey players of all ages and ability levels master their skating skills, allowing them to become more effective and competitive players on the ice. Have you ever watched figure skating and wondered how they have so much speed and control while performing difficult moves?

Skaters will work on both short and long programs for collegiate competition, footwork for synchronized team skating, and dance. Synchronized skating is a team sport that combines elements of figure skating with synchronization. It demands teamwork, individual skill, and lots of coordination. To compete on the BU team, skaters must be able to pass the US Figure Skating Juvenile Moves in the Field Test. The Boston University Synchronized Skating Team (The Terrierettes) is for skaters who have passed their juvenile moves which is a requirement to compete in the collegiate division. A part of the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA), the team actively competes in the Collegiate Level.

Open skating is offered to students, FitRec members and the general community during academic year semesters at the Walter Brown Arena, located in the Case Center at 285 Babcock Street. Adult and youth skates are available for rent, although you are welcome to bring your own skates as availability of skate rental cannot be guaranteed.
